January 26, 2026, Government Spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat disclosed that tomorrow (January 27, 2026) after the cabinet meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas and Minister of Commerce Suphajee Suthumpun will hold a press briefing on the outcome of Thailand’s participation at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 (WEF 2026) in Davos, the Swiss Federation, on January 19-23, 2026.

According to the Government Spokesperson, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has placed great importance on boosting global confidence on the Thai economy, and delegated the Team Thailand, comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Commerce Suphajee Suthumpun, and BOI Secretary-General Narit Therdsteerasukdi, to attend the WEF 2026. Their participation turned out very successful, particularly in enhancing global confidence toward Thailand, expanding cooperation networks with international organizational leaders, and highlighting Thailand’s role at the international leadership stage. The Team Thailand also met with executives of leading global companies to lay groundwork for future investments and collaborations that will benefit the Thai economy in the long run.

Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance will also elaborate the Team Thailand’s achievement from the participation in WEF 2026: (1) Reinforcing Thailand’s image among the world’s leaders as a country with strong potential, clear policy direction, neutrality amid geopolitical challenges, and a regional hub for modern economic cooperation; (2) Meeting with executives of leading global firms to tangibly advance investments, particularly in the New S‑Curve industries, create business opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs, and develop workforce skills to meet future global demands; and (3) Building cooperation to pave the way for Thailand’s hosting of the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings 2026 in Bangkok, which will showcase Thailand’s capacity as host of world‑class events, and its leading role within the ASEAN region.

Concurrently, Minister of Commerce also actively participated in key meetings and activities, including serving as a panelist to discuss “Recoding Trade”, where she presented ASEAN’s role under the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA), for which Thailand serves as negotiation chair. The focus was made on promoting digital trade and investment, establishing new economic opportunities, and pushing forward sustainable development. She also had bilateral discussions with trade ministers from several countries, including Canada, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates.

Aside from the overview of Thailand’s achievements at WEF2026, the country’s future direction for national advancement will be revealed at the press briefing tomorrow, both in the dimensions of investments, new economic opportunities, national competitiveness enhancement, and promotion of Thailand as a regional hub for economic activity and cooperation, which will lead to economic security, sustainable growth, and long-term tangible benefits to the people.
