January 19, 2026, at 1400hrs, at the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, Bangkok, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul attended the Royal Thai Police press conference on narcotics suppression operations, carried out during October 1, 2025 and January 18, 2026. Also attending the press conference were Minister of Justice Pol Lt Gen Rutthaphon Naowarat; Commissioner‑General of the Royal Thai Police Pol Gen Kitrat Phanphet; Commissioner of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau Pol Lt Gen Achayon Kraithong; Deputy Ssecretary-General of the Narcotics Control Board Sirisuk Yuenharn; and concerned officials.

The Prime Minister listened to the briefing on the outcomes of several high-profile operations, including the crackdown of a transnational narcotics network that led to the arrest of a Taiwanese ringleader; and an arrest of the ‘Prachinburi Pilot’ network with the confiscation of 1,800,000 methamphetamine tablets, among others. He was also presented with the seized evidence and a demonstration on how to conceal narcotics in the carpets and other suspicious items.

After the briefing, the Prime Minister commended the Royal Thai Police’s effort in continuing to pursue, advance, and intensify its narcotics suppression operations, resulting in these concrete and significant outcomes. During October 1, 2025 and January 18, 2026, as many as 89,076 drugs networks have been cracked down with the arrest of 88,421 offenders, confiscation of assets worth over 3.396 billion Baht, and the seizure of large quantity of evidence including over 330 million methamphetamine tablets, 1,100 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 1,960 kilograms of ketamine, 269 kilograms of heroin, and 207,924 ecstasy pills.

These outcomes clearly demonstrate determination, commitment, and dedication of the Royal Thai Police, as well as other relevant agencies, to translate the Government’s policy into action and work in an integrated manner in combating drug traffickers and producers in a relentless and nondiscriminatory manner. The Government commits to providing full support, both in terms of policy, manpower, and resources, for their operations against drug trafficking, and will protect all officers who carry out their duties with integrity and justice.

Through combined and flawless operations of all relevant agencies, be it, the Royal Thai Armed Forces, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Interior, and the Royal Thai Police, the capabilities of these offenders are no match for the efficiency and capacity of the authorities. The cabinet has recently approved an allocation of 846 million Baht in budget from the Government’s FY2026 central fund for emergency and contingency for the Royal Thai Police’s procurement of 3 Z-Backscatter & Transmission Vehicles.

In closing, the Prime Minister expressed appreciation to all officers who perform their duties with sacrifice, perseverance, and unwavering dedication, and reaffirmed the Government’s whole-hearted support on their operations in combating narcotics and all forms of illegal activities.
